Hearing Tests
in Fort Worth, TX

The purpose of a hearing test is to determine the type and degree of hearing loss present. We use state-of-the-art equipment to conduct hearing tests for adults of all ages. During your visit, we will first begin with an ear exam. Using an otoscope, we will look inside your ears to ensure impacted earwax is not the cause of your hearing difficulties.

Once we’ve determined your ears are clear and healthy, then we will have you sit in a soundproof booth with a pair of headphones on for the hearing test. The test itself is simple. You will listen for a series of sounds and alert our hearing specialist every time you hear a sound. These will range in loudness and pitch. The results of your hearing test will be recorded on an audiogram which allows us to determine your exact degree of loss.

Hearing Aid Fitting

A properly fit and programmed hearing aid is necessary for individuals who have hearing loss. Our hearing specialist, Kurt Chappell, is an expert in hearing technology. He has been working with hearing aids for over 40 years and keeps up to date with the latest advancements.

At Chappell Hearing Care Center, we can expertly fit your hearing aids so they sit comfortably yet securely in/around your ear. Hearing aids should never be uncomfortable, as you do have to wear them during your waking hours.

We also program your hearing aids based on the results of your audiogram. This ensures your hearing aids will provide you with the optimal amount of amplification and clarity in your preferred listening environments.

Custom Earmolds

The number one preventable cause of hearing loss is loud noise exposure. Anytime the sound levels exceed 85 decibels (the average level of city traffic), irreversible damage can happen to your hearing. It’s important to wear hearing protection whenever you are exposed to loud noise to prevent noise-induced hearing loss.

At Chappell Hearing Care Center, we can create custom fit earmolds, earplugs, in-ear monitors, and musician filters to protect your hearing ability. Custom hearing protection is ideal for hunters, firearm users, musicians, construction workers, and anyone who is in a high-level noise environment.

Tinnitus Management

Have you ever heard a ringing in your ears that is only noticeable to you? Tinnitus is the perception of sound that is not externally present. The sounds of tinnitus range from a buzzing, humming, ringing, roaring, or whistling. Tinnitus is not a hearing disorder, but rather the symptom of another underlying condition.

At our hearing clinic, we can assess your hearing and identify tinnitus. A form of tinnitus treatment we offer are hearing aids. We carry hearing aids that have a tinnitus masking feature, these devices will play soothing sounds in your ears to distract your brain from tinnitus. While hearing aids won’t stop ringing in the ears completely, they can greatly help.
