In March 2023, Kurt Chappell traveled to Columbia on an Operation Go Quickly hearing mission with Dr. Fred Sorrells.  While there, Kurt fitted dozens of hearing aids and heaing molds.  Here are just some of the people they helped.

Ceila

With her newfound hearing, little Ceila is more than one miracle. At four she is a cancer survivor with radiation and chemo taking 50% of her hearing. When we turned on the hearing aid her face lit up, from a quiet, even dull demeanor.she began to speak happily, wanting to walk around and hug me. Totally changed life. Her aid is a super advanced, automatic that simulates normal hearing. Thank you for our patients who donated this one

Amelia

Amelia

Amelia has a severe loss of speech in both ears. The day she came to be fit she was quiet and reserved, even telling us she had to be gone by five. Soon, she was so happy hearing life again with super automatic Bx7 aids from Germany. She gladly stayed way past her time to leave. Thank you to our patients for donating these!

Andie

Following God to Columbia on this Mission taught me so much. Thank you Jesus. We worked hard making super power hearing aids for this young lady Andie. We loved on her, prayed with her, and discovered she is a Jehovah Witness. She will think about those Christian’s from America that loved her with our Jesus, the Savior.

Ashley

Ashley got her aids today and became astutely aware of everyone talking. She said she likes the sound of her voice. Her smiles said it all.

Her Mom was estatic, going around hugging the staff. Her little girl has never heard sounds of life because of her severe loss.

Sometimes We Can do Nothing

The lady on the right is the Mom of the one on the left being consoled by the Pastors sister. The Mom on the right was fit for a severe HL ( deaf w/o aids) and her daughter who is 18 had lost her hearing at 15 ( genetic). This teen was really looking forward to us helping her. But she is totally deaf and we can do nothing. She cried for twenty minutes on the ladies shoulders.

Not all our work is perfect, we become counselors at times too.

Ritzabel

Her smiles are bigger than the moon when she could really hear for the first time. Her severe bilateral loss kept her from so much. She was talking alot, hearing her voice for the first time. She kept clapping, watching her hands make such a sound, for the first time. Her name is Ritzabel and her friends call her Ritzy. She can outrun all the boys.

Our poster 10 year old, praying right before we put hearing aids on.

Danna

Look at Danna’s eyes gleaming like on Christmas morning right after turning aids on. Her severe loss kept her from enunciating with her own voice all her life. So she kept talking to hear herself , and diction improved! Running back from outside, she said she was hearing sounds she’d never heard.

Haribuerto Prays

Our church prayers in action, as we start and end each patient session, with thanks to God and invitations to become Jesus followers. Our volunteer, Haribuerto is Catholic like most and after our example, began ending all sessions with open prayers and invitations. This is mostly unheard of in his Catholic practice.

Alvaro

Alvaro

This young man, Alvaro, was quiet through the process until he could hear so well. With prayer and invitation, he formally accepted Christ as his savior, all in front of his Dad!

Alvaro

Alvaro is so happy with his new super advanced hearing aids. The grand smile is everything.

Daniela

Daniela

When the hearing aid was turned on, Daniela’s expression is priceless. She began crying tears of joy while hearing her voice, and others, so clearly. She couldn’t stop hugging all our staff.

Miguel

Miguel is 9 and received two super power aids. Hearing better calmed this hyperactive, Asperger spectrum young boy.

Sylvia

Sylvia

Silvia at 29 has a wonderful life ahead. But jobs were impossible with a severe loss of hearing. Her new aids will bring employment opportunities, and with her infectious attitude who would disagree?

Yeimi

Yeimi is a quiet 8 year old. Her new aids allow her to hear for the first time. She and her Mom are so thankful. The Columbians are beautiful people.

Ruth

Four year old Ruth with severe muscular dystrophy needing aids. Her body convulses involuntarily, constantly. Two Moms and a nurse held her while we made the injection earmolds. It worked!
